Hey all,
I have posted this on MR but so far nobody seems to keen. Basically I think it would be really relevant for us to create some sort of sticky that outlines the page ins/outs & swap and gave users an idea of what numbers they should expect.
Yes/No??

ok so do you know what Virtual Memory is? its basically using HDD space as RAM (but much slower RAM)..
if some program is using RAM but you havent used it for a while, and you open up another application and there isnt enough RAM to go around* - the computer will say "right, you have been open for a while your going into Virtual RAM". it might take a 64MB chunk of data (page outs) and store it to the HDD.
if you start using that older program again, the computer will restore the VM back into real RAM, it will find the 64MB chunk and wala.. a speedy application (these are page ins).
i think
* you dont have to be out of RAM for VM to actually start being used.
