    Smile Switch Gains and losses

    Hello,

In this topic I will write what will you gain and lose when switching from windows to a mac.

    Gains:

    1) Security: The operating system behind Mac OS X was written with security in mind, it's one of the top hot reasons why users switch to mac. So for this reason ,there has never been any widespread Mac OS X virus; no adware or spyware.

2)Stability: The foundation of Mac OS X in UNIX and this operating system is very strong, it's rock solid, it's been there for ages.

    3) User friendly: you just install and that's it, no questions asked, no serials or online activations. When installing programs you just drag and drop 1 file.

    4) It's not copy protected: you can install 1 copy of mac os x in many laptops or desktops.

    5) Integrated top notch softwares: you get so many useful integrated softwares such as iLife (iWeb, iMovie, Garageband, iDvD, iPhoto), iTunes, iChat, iCal etc...

    6) Dock: ever wanted to get rid of your messy desktop, well in Mac OS X you get to add programs in a Dock and you can also add folders and it will open in Stacks.

    7) Multi-tasking friendly: In Mac OS X you get Spaces and Exposé, in Spaces you actually have multi desktops which can add up to 16 desktops and in Exposé you can make all windows go away, show up, chose between them with single keyboard click or trackpad if you have new Macbook or Macbook Pro.

    8) Spotlight: you can search anything from files to applications, and it does not only search the name but the content of the file or document.

    9) Secret door to UNIX: the thing with Mac OS X is it's for everybody, if your a normal computer user, you get this fantastic user friendly interface and you don't have to go deep into the operating system to do stuff, but this does not mean that programmers or IT gurus and take full advantages and customize Mac OS X.

    Losses:

    1) Some programs: you might not find some programs that you used to have in Mac OS X

    2) limited hardware: you can't customize your own hardware as you have to buy a Mac desktop or laptop.

Also, you gain tastefully designed hardware, and a snobby stereo type!

    I love using a mac!
