    Augmented reality App "Layar Reality Browser" was released [App Store, Free, iPhone 3GS only] has been approved and is now available in the App Store. Layar is one of the most popular augmented reality platforms, which take advantage of the GPS and digital compass capabilities in the iPhone 3GS to overlay information on video feeds from the device's camera.

    This app is sick, I had it on my android device before I switched to iPhone.

    Shame its only on 3Gs

    basically you choose a layer, then it displays a videofeed from your camera and places little bubbles on it where people have posted in that area.

    So for example if I stood on a shopping street here, and selected the brightkite layer (brightkite is a loacationbased website where you post pictures and stuff) then I could move around and as I move the camera around, bubbles of what people have posted will show up in the shops that posted it at.

    that almost makes me want to buy an iPhone!! very nifty. i could live in my own world and not interact with others
