    sorry for bringing this thread back up - but its going to take a LONG time before we can stream BD rips/movies (here in aust). i think the 5 year estimate was rather accurate.

    See i donno about that. I have talked to a guy in the know from the uk, he says they cant do it. Sure one person might be able to, but millions of people at the same time just isnt possible.

    i think optical media will fail sooner or later, hard drives getting bigger and cheaper , internet getting faster and cheaper

    eventually it will yes. once super high res is over and done with i think we may finally get rid of optical media....

    I think light peak can be the blu-ray killer, I mean I'm not sure but if they can make light peak flash disks and let's say it would cost 5$ for 2GB flash, it would be better than a Blu-ray disc, I know it's not popular now but this of the concept I can watch HD movies from my external disk without getting any lag so let's see what light peak will bring to us.

    maybe. maybe not. $5 for 2GB is far far away from $20 for a BD disc/movie. a BD is 50GB after all

    i wonder how many PC manufacturers will catch onto it>?
