Default New Mac Pro with total of 12-Core CPUs?

Hardmac.com reported that Apple's high end desktop computer "Mac Pro" will get a Short-Term Exclusive Use of Future Xeon CPU, the future CPU "Golftown" will have the following specs:

6 cores and 12 threads for each CPU.
12 MB of shared cache instead of 8 MB today.
32-nm engraving vs. 45 nm today.
Power consumption of future hexacore Xeon 32 nm will be slightly lower than the one of current quad core Xeon engraved at 45 nm.

There are more thing to be expected in the new "Mac Pro" model such as 10Gbit/s Ethernet port and also this model should handle 6GB and 8GB ram modules add up to 128GB of RAM.

The new "Mac Pro" is expected to be release in early 2010

    just so everybody knows:

    1. 12 physical cores, 24 cores with HT.

    2. 16GB RAM chips will be supported, but costs to manufacture are too high so they do not exist.

    3. 10gb/s Ethernet is well outdated.

    4. Performance of these CPUs will not be THAT much of an improvement then current machines.

I only hope that the Graphics Cards are adequate.

I don't agree with point 2 and 4, 16GB might cost much but there are a lot of people who are willing to pay for it because they need it e.g (Holly Wood movie makers,Pixar,Scientist, music producers, graphic designers) and also people because they want it (rich ass gamers, tech whores etc..)

for point 4 I can't see why 12 core (4 cores more than the current high end mac pro) won't be THAT much faster, especially with GCD in Snow Leopard

point 2: i guess i should also add that these chips are not in production yet (not ECC FBDIMM models anyway). they would cost around $2k each if they were.

also, the hollywood people wouldnt use macs for that stuff, they would use massive cluster servers.

ruch ass gamers are rich ass idiots. they dont need any more then 4GB for a game.

point 4: GCD doesnt really come into this. if you were comparing a 12-core on Leopard with a 12-core on SL then yes it would make a huge difference.

you should expect to see a 15% increase with this CPU. not that great. i remember the days when we would see 50% more power.
