I use ByteController for Play/Pause, FF and RW buttons in my menubar. Growl tells me what song has begun to play. Love alternative iTunes controls, never have the actual window open.

i used to use programs like this but i got sick and tired of them. now i just close the iTunes window, refocus to iTunes then hit left/right/pause etc. works fine for me. no more clutter either
